Said to roam the streets in search of naughty children to punish, this foreboding figure often wields a handful of birch sticks for whipping disobedient youngsters, and may carry the naughtiest off to the underworld on his back. Good children may be frightened, but will be rewarded by St Nicholas, who generally keeps Krampus chained and under control. Krampusnacht, is celebrated every December 5th with participants donning intimidating masks, furry costumes, and clanging bells in a parade known as the Krampuslauf.
It's another Arkham Bazaar x Liv Rainey-Smith collab! Liv's art evokes the classical medieval style of woodcut. The original version was carved into a wood block, inked, and printed in a limited edition run. We love our t-shirt collaborations to make event more wearable art!
Printed in khaki ink on a black 100% cotton pre-shrunk T-shirt, (unisex 100% cotton, womens fitted tee 60/40 cotton/poly) this shirt is based on the design conceived, carved, and printed by Liv Rainey-Smith originally on a 9 x 12 inch woodblock.
