Seven DVDs of Lovecraftian horror all the way from 1965 through to 2011. Need to kickstart your H.P. Lovecraft movie collection? Have a friend who loves the books, but hasn't seen any of the essential films based on Lovecraft's fiction? This is the perfect opportunity to save some money on hours and hours of both classic and modern Lovecraftian cinema. Available for a limited time only, this collection includes:
Die, Monster, Die (1965) - 79 mins
Based on "The Colour Out of Space." Starring Boris Karloff and Nick Adams
The Dunwich Horror (1970) - 88 mins
With great performances from Ed Begley as the Lovecraftian occultist/scientist hero Dr. Henry Armitage and Dean Stockwell as the goat-like but groovy and charismatic Wilbur Whateley (who is intent on sacrificing a half-nude Sandra Dee to Yog Sothoth), plus psychedelic visuals and score, you can't go wrong with this film.
Dagon (2001) - 98 mins
An adaptation of Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth," Stuart Gordon's Dagon (2001) is an action-filled and quick-paced film with excellent performances by Ezra Godden and the late, great Francisco Rabal.
The H.P. Lovecraft Collection Vol. 1: Cool Air - 140 mins
Contains the films "Cool Air" starring Jack Donner and Bryan Moore, plus the short films Nyarlathotep, The Hound, An Imperfect Solution (a Herbert West: Re-animator story), and The Hapless Antiquarian, and an interview with author and scholar S.T. Joshi.
The Call of Cthulhu (2005) - 72 mins
The award-winning silent film version of Lovecraft's story, starring Matt Foyer. This utterly faithful adaptation, with old-style special effects and a sweeping orchestral score should not be missed. This is the ultimate Lovecraft film!
Pickman's Muse (2010) - 75 mins
Based on Lovecraft's "The Haunter of The Dark," this atmospheric and chilling film stars Barret Walz as the painter Pickman, under the influence of a dark force that inhabits an old abandoned church. There are some real scares in this one.
Die Farbe (2011) - 85 mins
Based on Lovecraft's "The Colour Out of Space" this is a stunning film that is both faithful to the spirit of the story and an effectively shocking portrayal of the decay of humanity in the wake of an insidious invasion from an indescribable force from beyond our stars.
All films are NTSC Region 1 or Region 0 DVDs.
